Singing to Tom a Special Little Song

All right...

So first things first, for most of you it may come as a surprise that songs come out of my mouth every once in awhile and they sound fairly decent. I'm holding my breath a little bit as I look at the "publish post" button below this post entry... but you know what- I'm gonna share this even in spite of my timidity, honesty is sexy and even better when it's raw and real as my friend, Sierra Sullivan says.

This past summer, I sang in super public at my mom's wedding at her maid of honor (I had to bring in the big guns for my toast, ya know?!).

Well, there's a particular song that lingers in my heart and I sang it yesterday evening when I touched down in D.C. for round two of the Game of Awesome...

Given that I'm a tad shy when it comes to certain things, I asked the guards on duty if I could break the respectful "requested/required" silence and sing. Half hoping they'd say no, I was surprised that they enthusiastically replied- OF COURSE!

Well, I smirked and smiled and sang for Tom and his words of wisdom that echo in the Jefferson Memorial. My partner in crime and now, official videographer, David captured it for your viewing/listening pleasure....

This song came to me via a beautiful friend, Liz Fullerton, on our journey through the Sacred Valley of Peru and I am forever grateful for its sweet and simple truth.

Somos Uno Con El Universo (We Are One With The Universe)

somos uno con el universo
siempre para siempre siempre

somos uno con el universo
siempre para siempre siempre

tierra mi cuerpo
agua mi sangre
aire mi alimento
y fuego mi espiritu

(english)
We are one with the universe
always for always always

land is my body
water my blood
air my nourishment
and fire my spirit
